Lecture by Ann Beeson
"Taking Liberties in Cyberspace"
Friday, October 6, 2000 at high noon
LBJ Room, 5th floor, CMA, University of Texas, Austin
Ann Beeson and the American Civil Liberties Union made
cyberspace a First Amendment zone by fighting and
winning a legal battle against the Communications
Decency Act of the 1996 Telecommunications Act. This
9-to-Zero victory firmly established the Internet as a
free speech area.
Ann Beeson, a Dallas native and ACLU National
attorney, addresses future challenges to
cyber-liberties in her first address to Austin
cyber-libertarians. Don’t miss it!

CMA shares the southeast corner of Dean Keeton (26th)
and Guadalupe with CMB, the big brown building. We
recommend the $5 parking lot across the street for
convenience.
