I'm Stephen Northcutt; I write to invite you to a no-cost information security briefing, January 12, 2001 at the Omni Dallas Hotel Park West, located at 1590 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75234. This is co-sponsored by the Center for Internet Security and NEC's e-Border division.
The briefing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and will consist of
three talks.
- Top Ten Internet Vulnerabilities - Northcutt
- Fighting Back against Attackers - Northcutt
- Securing Emerging Internet Applications - NEC e-Border
To register, please visit the NEC e-Border web site at
http://www.eborder.nec.com (click on the Northcutt link to RSVP). The Center for Internet Security has been allocated a limited number of seats for this event, so if you are interested, please do not delay.
The threat to our information systems continues to increase; new rootkits such as adore and distributed attacks allow attackers to deliver an unprecedented level of firepower against each of our facilities. We are going to have to develop new approaches to the implementation of information security to really be able to fight back.
