Sunday, June 2nd, 7:00PM
Sacred Cup coffee house, 1809 Manor Rd. (Formerly Gabby & Mo's)

The Austin Independent Media Center (http://Austin.IndyMedia.org) invites activists, artists, videographers, photojournalists and community to participate in the global IMC project. This meeting is aimed at rejuvinating the Austin IMC and getting new members involved.

The IMC project provides to local community a place to upload and permanently place multimedia content from video to audio to plain text. The IMC mission statement also includes educating community on media production and media-related issues.

The Austin IMC needs a major emphasis on reorganization from the ground up. From creative content artists and writers to those willing to work on process and communications with the global IMC. Tech skills are always welcomed as well.

The focus of this first meeting (in a long while) is to have informal discussions on the IMC project and see what people are interested in. The hope is that new members can take-over many aspects of Austin IMC to revive the project and keep it alive. For those completely new to IMC, I will try to provide a jump-start backgrounder on IMC, primarily focused on "how it works" and how it is organized.

Hope to see you there!

Those wanting more info about the overall IMC project, how it works and is organized, should visit the IMC Process site at http://process.indymedia.org/. Those wanting to participate or learn more about the Austin IMC should join our listserv at http://lists.indymedia.org/listinfo/imc-austin.

Anyone interested in computer/technical issues should check out http://tech.indymedia.org/. Also, older information is archived at http://process.indymedia.org/tech/. (IMCs run on Linux servers using Active software package, which relies on a variety of standard programs like Apache, PostgreSQL, PHP, CVS, etc.)
