This document originally started in the pages of Pine Tree Journal as a list of army/navy stores in the New England Region for self-reliance & preparedness hobbyists to locate local sources for gear and equipment. It has subsequently expanded into a general-purpose source list for fellow travelers and like-minded individuals. It contains a list consisting of the following categories:

Military surplus type Army/Navy stores have gotten more rare in recent years as the government isn't surplusing out as much as it used to, and the rush of stuff that came from overseas in the late 1980s and early 1980s is slowing down. There are a number of mail order and Internet outlets where you can buy military surplus, but I prefer to support local businesses as much as possible. I also like to examine stuff before I make a purchase; going though bins of surplus gear looking for the one that's in the best shape.

"Vinyl records, CD's, cassettes, videos, books, clothes, body jewelry, posters, patches, pins, hair dye, rings, knick knacks, geegaws, bricabrac, etc etc etc. New and used. WE ARE NOT A HEAD SHOP!" I've been going here since the early 1990s when my friend Marcus told me about it. This was one of a handful of places that sold Cybertek. They carry Boston T. Party's and (when they can get them) Kurt Saxon's books; as well as other literature of that genre.

UPDATE: "Effective May 1st, 2007, Trash American Style will no longer be able to conduct retail operations at 12 Mill Plain Road. Its official. Not a rumor. Tell everybody." We must stress that this is NOT because of bad business or hard times. If we had our druthers, we'd stay here at 12 Mill Plain Road forever. We love this location. It has been very good to us for 17+ years. Kathy and I are going to stay in business, just in a different fashion for the time being. You'll be seeing us at record shows, flea markets, colleges, festivals, gigs, vacant lots, and assorted roadsides all over the Northeast. Those of you across the globe will see plenty of Trash action on Ebay and elsewhere on the internet. There will probably be a storefront again. We just don't know when. Right now, we're starting to discount a lot of our merchandise. You've seen how much stuff we have and we need to get rid of a lot of it. Shop at Trash and get it while you can."

Judging from my last visit to Lentini's, he appears to be (slowly) getting out of the radio business. The display case in front of the counter that was full of scanners and portable communications receivers was full of guitar effects pedals.

Rogus deals exclusively in used radio gear, and has an eclectic stock of used electronics equipment. If I'm looking for something odd or somewhat unusual, I visit here and he often has it. A friend's place. Visit here and spend money!

New England Area Ham - Electronic Flea Market Calendar
The definitive list of ham/electronic fleas for New England.

There are a lot of gun dealers in New England. The problem is finding a good one. Many of them deal exclusively in expensive "sporting"-type firearms, won't speacial-order something for you out of Shotgun News, have obnoxious wanna-be types for employees, and charge excessive amounts to do a transfer from an out-of-state dealer.

So for those of you who wish to exercise your Second Amendment rights, I'm starting to include "cool" gun dealers: places that deal in inexpensive milsurp firearms and accessories, have reasonable prices, and have friendly and knowledgable sales staff. In short, like the cool gunstores that I used to go to when I was younger.
