This 'n' That - By Rocky
We all survived Dayton again this year and had too much fun.
John and Jackie of the RIB Spot were the ever perfect host, thanks again "Mom and Dad". It was also great to see all the people that came by the booth this year. I spent more time in the booth this year than in years past, partially due to the heat. There were bargains to be had everywhere but there seems to be changes in what is sold each year. If you were there I know you had a good time and if you weren't there this year, now is the time to start planning for next year. Unfortunately due to time constraints with the booth, shopping and the 4 radio broadcasts, we did not get the pictures up on the web site until after the show. By the time you read this, Dan will have the pictures from Dayton posted at: www.freeyellow.com/members2/swn/dayton.html
Come by and take a look at the fun we were having. Well, here it is, the month of June. In January we had 18 updates, now we have 26. As we go to press I have been told the last 3 to get us to 26 will be a little harder to remove than in the past. But who knows? There were people in January that said you couldn't remove the original 18.
There are bets being taken on when the next card swap will start, some say this fall. If News Datacom is true to form as with European card swaps, that would be about right. In Europe the swaps come about every 18 to 24 months.
Well I have lots of promises of new devices to test but none have show up at this time.
The most action on the IRC is with the #MAGIC channel. This was the channel that released Merlin which was at version 2.2 last month but proceeded to version 2.6 before being transformed into Pegasus. The current version of Pegasus is 1.1. Another update that came last month is version 2 of Volcano. The MAGIC group is promising a un26 file for donators. The file is said to be password protected so if you are not a donator it will not run. To become a donator contact Magic in the IRC channel #MAGIC. The following is information from Sister Freeware on other new releases.
- 1:Pegasus ver. 1.1 - is a windows based program to enable communication with your card, it is simple to use and operate. (Alternative : Explorer Dos) When people ask what will it do this or that the answer is... It will do what you tell it to do with the use of .xpl files. Whatever the .xpl is designed to do will determine what output should be. Now with script capability and can be used with MAGIC1.SCR and MAGIC2.SCR. The Latest from the Merlin Group or Magic Group. This will have all the same capabilities as merlin but will now add the ability to use encrypted scripts. I am sure there will be more to add to this sharp looking interface Problems running your Pegasus? Try this: In windows 95: · bring up the run pane · (start/run) · type in regedit and run it · look for Hkey_current_user · delete key pegasus · exit regedit · run pegasus again
- 2:Unaxa- This contains files to remove updates put on by axacard2 and with the use of 3.xpl reapply the 23 updates after your programming is completed. The Open23.xpl le needs to be edited for each card. If you have problems figuring out correct formation. Use add2.xpl. Not for use on cards getting updates from receiver (DTV).
- 3: MAGIC1.SCR & MAGIC2.SCR - Used in conjunction with Merlin Ver 2.1 will remove DTV 23 updates. Load scripts to same folder and when you click on scripts tab they will show up in list, then click load on script followed by send data. Return to scripts and click on other script and repeat. We are compiling more info as to correct order of activation and sequences that should be followed. Magic1.scr. reset Magic2.scr. check updates should be 51 then clean.
- 4: New23.scr- This file should only be used as a last resort. it also consists of Virgin.Scr. Meant to remove updates on the stubborn cards and cards with crazy updates. . 5:Volcano - Dos - activation software. The newest version is 2
6:MSLO- Programming works better the slower you run it, some computers higher than 486 need to be brought to a slower speed. MSLO slows down the computer speed. This is also know as moslo, "MORE SLOW". You might also need to disable the cache in your machine if it is too fast. The best advice here is to get a cheap slow machine for this work.
- 7:HELP.zip this file has 5 files in it as of this writing that are great help with learing how the different programs work.
If luck is with us there will be information on un99ing a H card in the field. There are units out there for this now but unless you are a very large dealer you don't want to know the price.
Well until next month happy testing and remember, this information and these tools are for learning and testing only and should not be use for theft of programming.
