newcard.bmp = design of the new interface with dip switches.
newcard.txt = This text file.

The 4 single pole switch on the pcb is used as follows.
switch 1 = 5 volt supply to oscillator and card reader (sc1)
switch 2 = Rst from pin 7 RS232 to pin 8 MAX232 IC
switch 3 = Reset from ISO card to pin 9 MAX232 IC (used when programming a ISO card)
switch 4 = Reset from ISO card to decoder (used when reading the ISO card)

Position of switches when using card in passive mode. (looking at data transfer)
switch 1 = on (power to oscillator and card reader needs this due to no contact to the clock)
switch 2 = off or on (does not matter)
switch 3 = off
switch 4 = on (this allows the card to get a reset signal from the decoder)
Make sure you have the frequency switch pointing to the smart card reader

Position of switches for programming a ISO card
switch 1 = on (power to oscillator and card reader (sc1)) this gives you the baud rate.
switch 2 = off (but some programs need it to be on like renum, unblock, protect ect see below*)
switch 3 = on (reset connection from card reader to pin 9 MAX232 IC)
switch 4 = off
Make sure you have the frequency switch pointing to the smart card reader

*On some programs like protect and renumber you need to switch 3 across when waiting for
reset for program to work. (i.e open connection from pin7 of the RS232 socket to pin 8 of
the MAX232 IC.) This switch is only used for that purpose

Position of switches for using device as a normal interface from PC to a ISO card slot.
switch 1 = off or on (you use the decoders clock but you can leave it on if you wish)
switch 2 = off or on (does not matter)
switch 3 = off or on (does not matter)
switch 4 = on (this allows the card to get a reset signal from the decoder)

The other switch between the 4 SPST switch and Crystal oscillator is used to select the
frequency of 7.15909 or 3.579545 MHz at the moment the 3.579545 MHz setting is used
(this is where the switch points to the smart card reader).
All this switch will do would be to double the frequency if needed.

The Voltage regulator has been added to the drawing, this is due to the fact that alot of people
have been destroying there oscillators by using a un-regulated power supply or applying more
than 5 volts onto the pcb.

PLEASE NOTE THIS DEVICE DOES NOT PROGRAM ONE OR TWO PIC CARDS, IT IS NOT A PIC PROGRAMMER.
If you require a pic programmer please email me and i will give you another email address
and telephone number of a good quality and inexpensive manufacture of pic programmers.
