Wolfe. Someone had attempted to repair the PA stage and had replaced the PA transistors with a Motorola C&E part number M1133. Obviously, the person did not realize that the VHF Micor radios use PNP RF transistors in the final rather than NPN like most other radios. The M1133 is a NPN and the person blew about 60 dollars worth of transistors. For the record, this is the only radio received in this area out of the 20 or so ordered from Wolfe that had any major problems. I have seen a lot worse from other vendors. As a point of information, the radio did make about 12 watts of RF, the shorted PA trans- istors allowed the driver stage to feed through to the antenna. The moral to this story is, if you replace the PA transistors in a Micor, use only the Motorola C&E part or the following Motorola "generic" parts. Transistor C&E Part # Generic M9622 48-869622 2N6094 M9623 48-869623 2N6095 M9624 48-869624 2N6096 M9625 48-869625 2N6097 Good luck with the Micors. If you need further info, contact me on the TexNet PMS at MKOTST or WB5AOH-9 BBS (WB5.OK.USA). The PMS is read by me every day or so and the BBS maybe once a week. 73, Joe WA5VMS *** 1 messages found 1703z, 1834 msgs @WB2GTX MailBox>
