ASM Abbreviation for Assembler.
Assembler Low level programming language, commonly used by crackers.
Bad boy The jump that points to that routine that is executed when the program is unregistered
Begar off see: Bad boy
Cracking Illegally registering a program by searching and / or modifying the code in that way, it has the same functionality as the legally registered program
Crippled software Software that has disabled functions
Dead list(ing) List containing the disassembled code of a program
Good boy The jump that points to that routine that is executed when the program is registered.
Hexeditor Program used to change a certain amount of bytes in a file, commonly used to patch a program
Keygen Program that calculates a valid serial for a program
Lamer Expression commonly used on IRC meaning: an annoying, difficult, childish, naïve, etc... person. Someone you don't like at all.
Nag Graphical object (window, painting,....) that's intended to remind people their program isn't registered
Patch Little program that changes another program's code in order to run differently, in cracking used to make a program registered.
Reverse engineering Finding out how something works. You reverse, translate, uncover information.
SoftICE Program by Numega made to debug a program, commonly used by crackers to crack programs.
Splash screen Graphical object that disappears after a certain amount of time, intended to show what program you are running, or to remind you to register a program. Has some similarity with a "nag"
Trial Period you can legally use an unregistered shareware / demo program
W32DSM Program intended to disassemble other programs
