Projects

Below is a list of the current projects DREAD members are working on.

1. Hotline
   Download Hotline Client and/or Hotline Server at www.hotlineSW.com. This target has already been reversed and a keygenerator has been made. (You can find this in the Resources Files section.) The essay about this target is almost finished. Hotline doesn't use HMEMCPY, but PeekMessageA instead, which made reversing this target very interesting.
    
2. Visual Basic Cracking
   Part of razzia's great work is slowly becoming obsolete and we will take over where he left! The result should be a 'Guide to Visual Basic cracking,' since Visual Basic cracking has always been and will always be different from other programming languages.
   The first target was JavaScript It!, download this at www.download.com. Since this target has been reversed, we're proceeding with the next one: AutoMate Pro. You can find this program at www.unisyn.com.
    
3. Oxford Molecular's CAChe
   This program (which is not available on the Internet) has a very complex protection scheme and is worth reversing. A valid serial number consists of 65 characters!
    
5. Windows Reversing
   As we all know, Micro$oft programmed a lot of things we would like to see different... One example is the annoying message box which pops up when you close Outlook Express and you haven't send all of your mail. Just remove it! And how about the logon sequence? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to log on as any user you want to be without entering any passwords?
    
6. HyperSnap Pro and HyperCam Pro
   The difficult part of this program is the fact that changing one byte of the program executable results in a dll helper load error. Download this target at www.hyperionics.com.
    
7. Java Reversing
   Just like Visual Basic cracking is different, Java reversing is also different and requires other knowledge than just a 'normal' Windows program. That was reason enough to start this project. The goal is to create a series of courses to publish on our homepage. Not only Java reversing will be part of this, but also JavaScript reversing, since there also are interesting JavaScript protections.
