Quick Editor and Son (TheGun) Version 1.1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Installation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The program is designed to run on either Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 or
later.

Installation is very simple. Place the zip file in a directory / folder of
your choice and unzip it. It contains three (3) files, the executable file
called QEDITOR.EXE, the help file QEDITOR.HLP and a separate executable
file call TheGun (Grown Up Notepad).

When the editor is first run, it will write its own INI file called
QEDITOR.INI.

All that needs to be done is to make a shortcut on either the Desktop or a
folder of your choice so that you can start both Quick Editor and TheGun.

Description.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Quick Editor is a small memory footprint text editor that earns its living
as a miniature programming editor. Its general purpose usefulness as a
text editor is based on the need to provide performance in terms of both
size and speed. This version is 20k smaller than the original version while
having some additional capacity.
It has been stripped down in size to improve its performance on normal
size computers and its performance has been optimised for speed of
use. The editor has some useful text formatting features which are
documented in the help file.
The separate executable called TheGun is a genuinely small and fast
replacement for NotePad which has the full wordwrap capacity that is
excluded from Quick Editor for technical reasons.
Quick Editor is a true stand alone 32 bit executable. It does not need any
Visual Basic or Visual C++ run time DLLs.
Quick Editor does NOT write to the registry at all. It writes its own INI
file in the directory where it is installed. This allows the user to move
or delete the program without any junk being left in the registry.
If the INI file is deleted or damaged, it will write another default
version.
Licence.
~~~~~~~
This program is available to any person, company, organisation or
institution to use as they see fit. It is completely free of any charge and
is not even for sale. There are no nag screens, time limits or any other
form of coercion to gain payment.

The about box in the program displays the name entered when the operating
system was installed. This is to protect the user in the event of being
audited.

The help file QEDITOR.HLP which can be started from the editor has a
statement of "The terms of use" which gives the user a written legal right
to have this program installed on their computer.

I hope you like the program and I hope it is useful to you.
