Lucid Dreaming Anyone? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ By: N-Sanity July 26, 1999 ''''''''''''''''' So you want to control your dreams eh? Maybe you don't, or maybe you just need a little convincing. If you are one of the later 2 choices think about the possibilities of being able to control your dreams. Think of all those things you have always wanted to do but been afraid or unable to do to some other reason. If you knew it was a dream wouldn't you try them? What I am trying to do with this file is take all that I have read and learned, put it in one place, and not charge some super high price for it. Why? Well simple, because I am a nice guy and I needed something to do. Please note that a lot of this information is from other sources but I have put it in my own words and have tried to describe it better. This as you can guess is essential to controlling your dreams. Lucidity - Once you are having a lucid dream. Brain-wave Machine - Read cyb0rg/asm's file called Brain-wave Machine at www.hackcanada.com. Devices that can only do part of what this can do retail for hundreds of dollars but cyb0rg/asm teaches you how to build one quite inexpensively. ____________________________________________________________________________ |=============================Obtaining Lucidity=============================| ^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^'-'^' There are many ways to obtain lucidity, you just have to decide which is the best for you. Below I will discuss some of the more common ways and even some of the less common ways. There are more ways than this but I won't be discussing them here. Also note that these methods are not guaranteed to work but with time most will. Reality Checks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reality checks contain a bunch of methods but they are all basically the same as you will see. Basically what you are doing is as the name says checking the reality of where you are. Don't be discouraged if they don't work right away as they will probably take a couple weeks before you are so used to doing it that it becomes almost natural. Watch Check - If you wear a watch every time you check the time look at the watch then turn away for a second and look back at the numbers. Have they changed? If they have try it again and if they changed again its a pretty sure bet that you are in a dream. Word Check - This is almost the exact same as the watch check only if you don't have a watch write a word on the back of your hand and check it pretty frequently through out the day. Like the watch check if it changes odds are you are in a dream. Creation Check - Try to create something out of thin air. Just think about it being there and see if it actually appears. Unless you are some super magician if something appears it's a dream. The last method is really basic. If it seems too odd to be reality it probably isn't. Do another one of the checks to be sure but it is probably a dream. Dream Recollection ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Make yourself up a dream journal and keep it next to your bed. Every morning when you wake up write down the dream you had. If you can't remember your dreams try thinking "I am going to remember my dreams tomorrow morning" (or afternoon if you are like me) before you go to sleep. Dream Signs ~~~~~~~~~~~ This requires that you are already keeping a dream journal. If you are, start looking through it after keeping it for a couple weeks for things that seem to happen in most or a lot of your dreams. This is a dream sign and next time you see it do a couple reality checks because it is probably a dream. Brain-Wave Machine ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Brain-wave Machine as described by cyb0rg/asm at www.hackcanada.com is an incredible device when it comes to lucid dreaming. It has a lot of uses and can fit into a lot of different areas. That is the reason I dedicated a whole section to it. Not only can it be used as a dream sign but it can also change your brain-waves so that you are more likely to have a lucid dream. In the paper by cyb0rg/asm you will see at the top that he recommends 0.5-3hz so when you start it up set to 0.5-3 flashes per second. Misc. Techniques ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nothing - Don't try to lucid dream and sometimes it might just happen although probably not as often as some of the other techniques. Early to Rise... - Wake up early then stay up for a while say 10 minutes and go back to sleep. This is reported to be a very successful method of inducing lucidity. Unsure - Ever had that feeling that you were dreaming but don't know?
