spl0it has decided to join forces with LoU in their war against China and
Iraq. f0bic of spl0it said this in an email message to HNN "It's
unjust to put hackers in prison longer then rapists and thiefs, and now
they even want to execute people for doing this. Justice has left the
world I guess. It's time for change..Big Time"

Win98 users can be impersonated after sniffing

L0pht Heavy Industries has released a major security advisory only one
day after releasing their new tool L0phtCrack 2.5. This new advisory
claims that Windows98 uses the same cryptographic challenge for up to 15
minutes. Since the Challenge is reused and the response stays the same
this could allow an attacker to impersonate a user and make a connection
to a machine they are not supposed to have access to.

In a daring daytime heist five thieves, armed with pistols and stun guns,
broke into a Sprint telephone office in Las Vegas on Sunday. They tied up
several employees and stole pieces of very specialized telephone
switching equipment causing an 7 and half hour outage of phone service to
approximately 75,000 customers. Sprint is being tight lipped as to
exactly what the equipment was saying that its only value would be to
either set up a telephone switch or to sell it to someone who was.
