  Lucent Website Takes A Hit

In a decidedly targeted hit, Lucent's website was attacked by a pro-Palestinian group using a Defend tool. The fact that Lucent conducts business in Israel has put the company on the "list" of several groups who are currently at odds with Israel. Here's to hoping this attack isn't just the tip of the iceberg.

  ACLU Fights for Vote Swapping Rights

After voteswap2000.com was shut down in accordance with the California Secretary of State's order, the ACLU responded and with a vengeance no less. They are now reportedly backing the controversial Nader-Gore vote swapping sites and won't stop there seeing as they intend to ask courts to not only overrule the prohibition of vote swapping sites but vote auction sites as well.. According to a California ACLU attorney, the court order against voteswap2000.com censors political speech.

  Misspelling Glitch Reveals Private Information

Private email messages were allegedly revealed on public website www.MyFlorida.com as the unnerving result of a "strange" computer glitch set off by web surfer, Jerry Haygood, typing the word "liscence" in the search box. Apparently, sensitive material was exposed, most of it being medically related. One of the victims, whose request for a phone number was revealed, warned against relaying any private information in writing over the Internet. File under weird.

  South Africa Wants Its Own Domain Name

The South African government is looking to secure the www.southafrica.com domain and use it as a portal touting the country's tourism and trading opportunities. South Africa is set to file its application with the World Intellectual Property Organization next week. This appears to be the first filing of this kind.
