The inventor of Colossus, Tommy Flowers, is dead at the age of 92. Colossus was a one ton computer that could unscramble World War II enemy coded messages electronically rather than mechanically.

We reported on this last week but MSNBC finnally gets a story out on how Makaveli and TooShort, two of the hackers accused of breaking into Pentagon computer systems earlier this year have been sentenced. As part of their three year probation the 16 and 17 year olds can not use a computer or act as consultants with out "a school teacher, a librarian, an employer, or other person approved by the probation officer" present.
