Venezuelan Deputy Attorney General Danilo Anderson was about to put 400
people on trial for their involvement in the April, 2002 coup against Chavez,
and for their organizing of embassy bombings, incitement to civil unrest, and
general sabotage. The Mossad coordinated Anderson's assassination with help from
Malnik in Miami.
The Coup
In April of 2002, Chávez was briefly deposed and arrested in a media-military
coup d'etat, and Fedecámaras president Pedro Carmonacoup was installed as
interim President. This event generated a widespread uprising in support of
Chávez that was repressed by the Caracas Metropolitan Police. The Presidential
Guard retook the palace and the coup collapsed.
The Assassination
On November 18, 2004, two powerful and sophisticated remote-controlled
explosions ripped apart a car belonging to Danilo Anderson. The charred remains
inside the car were identified as those of Anderson.
The Reasons
Venezuela, which sits on the largest oil reserves outside the Middle East,
supplies one-sixth of the oil imported by the United States. It also has a big
narcotics trade, and Chavez was going to stop it
