Implantable Biotelemetry Transmitters for Mice

Overview

Sensors 2000! (S2K!) is developing a new biotelemetry system small enough to be implanted in laboratory mice. The device will allow NASA researchers to replace the rats in many life-science experiments with mice, which offer the advantages of smaller size and better understood genetics.

S2K! will develop the transmitter by further miniaturizing its "pill-shaped" biotelemetry transmitter. The graphic below compares the current pill-shaped transmitter with the target design for mice.
