Is Obama Naive, Insane, Or . . .	Obama suggested that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy -- provided it proves by the end of the year that its aspirations are peaceful. In a BBC interview broadcast Tuesday, he also restated plans to pursue direct diplomacy with Tehran to encourage it set aside any ambitions for nuclear weapons it might harbor. Payne Report Probably Bogus	Yesterday's Latest News featured a report about Obama's "uncle," Charles Payne's, WW II experiences. The report is most probably in error. This item discusses the sources of the confusion, that appear to be erroneous data in several archival databases. I checked my Obama's Family page and Madelyn Dunham was raised in Augusta, Kansas. There’s an ABC News report that says Charles T. enlisted in 1943, with most of his graduating class. There is an entry in the World War II Kansas Selective Service Index for the US Army for a Charles E. Payne, Augusta, Kansas, dated June 1943. It is reasonable to assume that Charles E. Payne should be Charles T. Payne, and is an entry made in error. That doesn’t explain the discrepancy in the ancestry.com records, identifying Madelyn Dunham's brother as Charles W. Payne. I am still waiting for a return email from them. The website "Sweetness & Light," a normally reliable source, has a report entitled "89th Division Site 'Confirms' Obama’s Story." A statement below the article heading says "S&L had it first!" At the bottom of the page is this comment -- "This article was posted by Steve Gilbert on Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 at 11:13 am" S&L appears to be the source of this report, but I wouldn't be critical of them. If Obama would make public the facts of his life, these kinds of reports and The Obama File would not exist. There would be no reason for them. Remember, Obama has lived for almost 50 years without leaving any footprints -- none! There is no Obama documentation -- no bona fides -- no paper trail -- nothing. A Democrat Or A Communist	Catherine Herridge filed a report tonight from Gitmo, with a breaking story that two of the Chinese Muslim Uighurs eagerly spoke to the press when she was in Camp Iguana. They called Obama a Democrat and a Communist, and said they lived in a similar governmental system back in their own country. (video) Obama’s gotta just be LOVING this!
Obama Supports Saudi Immunity	The Obama administration has petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to protect Saudi Arabia and four of its princes from being held accountable for their alleged role in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the United States that killed almost 3,000 Americans. Through its solicitor general, Elena Kagan, the Obama administration has asked that the Saudis be held immune under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, or FSIA, even though there is ample U.S. evidence of complicity by the Saudi government and the named princes in support of al-Qaida's terrorist attack. While the FSIA generally protects a sovereign state, there are exceptions under which its provisions can be invoked. Such interpretations are left largely to the courts to determine. Families of the 9/11 victims, however, have expressed outrage over the Obama administration's filing. They regard the action as undermining the continuing fight on terror. In its recent filing of an "amicus curiae" brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in "Federal Insurance Co. vs. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," the Obama administration asked the court to deny a petition for a "writ of certiorari" or higher court hearing by the families of the victims of 9/11 in their effort to sue Saudi Arabia and its princes. You Cannot Freeze Life	This was Benjamin Netanyahu's response to Obama's demand that Israel cease construction in the West Bank that is the natural outgrowth of existing settlements. In others words, Netanyahu is saying "no" to Obama. Netanyahu explained: "We will not build new settlements. Our intention is to dismantle illegal outposts. There are reasonable demands and there are unreasonable demands. The fate of the settlements will be determined in a final status agreement." In other words, Obama's demand that all settlement construction be halted is not reasonable. Obama hasn't heard "no" from anyone with significant power for some time. How will he react? There has been speculation that he will react by declining to veto anti-Israel resolutions at the United Nations. This doesn't strike me as a likely response. Obama's goal is to bring down the Netanyahu government. The best way to accomplish this is to take steps that signal a deterioration in relations but that do not cause Israelis to sympathize with Netanyahu and to dislike Obama. The U.N. tends to pass resolution regarding Israel that are not just unfair, but noxiously so. For the U.S. to stop vetoing such resolutions would be inconsistent with the nuanced strategy I just outlined. On the other hand, Obama is so arrogant and full of himself that he might just dispense with nuance.
Obama Marks LGBT Pride Month	Obama recognized June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender, or LGBT, pride month Monday. In a presidential statement he marked the anniversary of the LGBT pride movement and added that the government will "commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBT Americans." Obama skirted the gay marriage issue in his announcement, although he noted that he is the first to appoint openly LGBT candidates to Senate-confirmed positions in the first 100 days of an Administration. Instead, he stressed an end to harassment, and "supporting civil unions." "LGBT youth should feel safe to learn without the fear of harassment, and LGBT families and seniors should be allowed to live their lives with dignity and respect," Obama said. "I continue to support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans," he added. "These measures include enhancing hate crimes laws, supporting civil unions and Federal rights for LGBT couples, outlawing discrimination in the workplace, ensuring adoption rights, and ending the existing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy in a way that strengthens our Armed Forces and our national security."
