Congratulations on the purchase of your new Optocom!

This utility program will allow you to control your Optocom
from any IBM compatible personal computer.

With this utility you can set up your Optocom for Store and Scan mode,
and change the emulation mode from Optocom to Optoscan (OS535), and
control all the remote functions that the radio has.

* Now you can tell the firmware version of your Optocom!
* The program will display the firmware version in the top section
* of the screen. This is useful for making sure you have the latest
* version.

* The program will also now tell you if you have a Comcounter installed.
* Although you can't do anything with the Comcounter from this program,
* it might come in handy for those who have more than one unit, and can't
* remember which one has the Comcounter in it.
*
* Wondering if you can receive cellular frequencies? Just look in the top
* center section of the header, right under the title "Optocom Control 
* Software". If your Optocom is capable of receiving cellular frequencies,
* you'll see the text "Unit Cellular Capable".

While this program is written for DOS, it has been re-engineered
to be much more stable while running within Windows. 
However, be aware that if you get strange results while running within
Windows, it is best to reboot into DOS mode and try it there before
assuming something is wrong with either the software or hardware.
Possible problems that you may see while running within Windows could
include slow keyboard response, slow screen updates, and occasional
loss of communications which will cause the screen to reset back to 
the search screen for a second or so, then pop back up to normal.
For best results, if you wish to run within Windows, please make sure
that there are no other programs active at the same time.
