Sorry... Development of DACARS 2000 has stopped. The beta version will remain available, I won't be able to give much service. If you like the program consider registering the DOS version.

DACARS 2000 DACARS 2000 is a 32 bit (Windows 95 or higher) version of DACARS. At the moment beta 3 is the current release. This release has only limited functionality and some bugs, but gives an impression of the project. On this page all three beta versions can be downloaded (the first is the complete program, the rest are small files with some updated files only). Below are some impressions of DACARS 2000. On the left you can see the splash screen which will be used in future releases.

A look at one of the major screens in DACARS 2000, the familiar list, as seen before in DOS versions of DACARS. The show-new button on the left shows only "firsts", which are marked with an asterisk (*). The list can be sorted ascending and descending by clicking on the column headers. Moving the selection changes depending windows like the detail- or content screen

The detail screen shows the aircraft and flight details. This screen can be shown permantly, changing with the selection in the list, or called up by pressing a button (not available yet). This is the <F4> screen from the DOS version. The Statistics screen pops up whenever a logfile is processed.

The content screen shows all unique messages transmitted by the selected flight

DACARS 2000 for Win '95

This is my first attempt to recreate DACARS in a Windows environment. It's a very preliminary beta version, with only the basic DACARS functionality. There is no help available, and there will be lots of bugs I'm afraid. Reason why this version is available for download is that I want to know I'm on the right track (or not...) with this approach.

Some remarks:

• This is a true 32 bits application. This means it will NOT run in Windows 3.1 or 3.11 or MS-DOS.
• The log files need to be in the same directory as DACARS 2000, there will be nasty errors if they're not. This will of course be solved in the official release.
• To sort the tables click on the header, on click sorts ascending, the next will sort descending.
• Clicking on a single row in the "List" will bring up a detail screen for the aircraft.
• The database used is a Microsoft Access type, you can open it with Access (for now, maybe I'll encrypt it in furure versions). Do not change the table structure or the queries in the database, this may produce errors when running DACARS 2000.
• If you decide to use this version be aware that it comes "as is", and that future versions will not have an option to continue with the database you're building when using this beta.
• The "Extra" menu contains dangerous items: to zap a table means that all records will be deleted. This option is meant for test-purposes only! There will be no confirmation dialogs when you press these options!
• The download is 3.63 MB, which might take considerable time
• Only Airmaster 3.0 format is supported (which is used by Airmaster 3.0, Airmaster 2000 and maybe some other systems as well).

Before Installation:

To run DACARS 2000 you need to have Microsoft's Data Access components installed on your system. Installation of Explorer 5.0 will install these files on your computer but they come single download as well at:

Installation

The file you will receive is called Dacars2000.zip. When using WinZip just press the install button. When you're manually unzipping this file run SETUP.EXE which will lead you trough the installation. Installation of DACARS 2000 will NOT interfere with other versions of DACARS, nor is a previous copy needed to run this Beta.

DACARS 2000 for Win '95 Beta 2

This is the second beta released to the general public. This update will only work as an update over the previous beta. If you got the first beta running chances are fair this one will work as well... What's new?

• Airmaster 2.0 support (Airmaster 2.0, Wacars 0.7)
• Message content window
• Options screen
• Log files may be anywhere on your system
• Detail screen now shows all available information
• Important haha: mousepointer changes into an hourglass when processing
• The "zero length string" (error 3315) should be solved

Known problems:

• Unlike DACARS for DOS DACARS 2000 uses the registration as unique key, where the DOS version uses registration + flightnumber. This will be solved in future versions.
• Screen positions are not saved. They will be in a future release. Till then just adjust the positions every time you run DACARS 2000
• Which screens are shown is determined by the "Extra->Options" screen. If a sceen is not checked it will not appear, even when the Window->Screenname option is used. Just check all the screens you want to see
• When running multiple files one after the other strange effects may occur, I haven't tested this thoroughly.
• State the location of the DACARS 2000 installation in the options screen please, I need this to find the Access Database.

The good news is the update is only abt 500 Kb! I haven't made a complete new setup to save 700 Kb overload, it's just a zipfile containing:

DACARS.EXE and DACARS.MDB (unzip to installation directory)
TABCTL32.OCX (unzip to Windows\System directory)

Again, no guarantees! Please advise me if you have any problems with the installation or when using the program. If so I'll try to put a new version online before june 26th. I will be gone for two weeks from then.

DACARS 2000 for Win '95 Beta 3

Available now: update for DACARS 2000 which solves the problem no messages are shown when the first message has no content. It's again a zipfile, this time only with the new DACARS.EXE, it's just 21 Kb. Just copy it ove the one in your DACARS 2000 directory.
