"If we can't help you then nobody can!"

Background:

My interest in computers and their applications started in 1987, since then I have progressed rapidly into many areas through both theoretical and practical research in the following areas:

Marketing, Networking, Psychology (Child and Adult), Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Systems Analysis, Teaching, Speech Recognition, Speech Synthesis, Astro Physics, PC maintenance and enhancement, Human-Computer Symbiosis, Robotics, Philosophy, Cybergenetics, Medical simulation checking, Virtual Reality, Vision Recognition, Computer animation and ray-tracing, Machine code low level programming, Legal hacking, MIDI sound recording, back-up systems, network databasing, autonomous vehicle research, Natural Language Processing, Heuristic reasoning systems, Computer search techniques, Use of the G.P.S, the use of over three million pounds worth of PC software and finally programming in over twenty five languages (at least one example of any significant language development since 1965). I can now become proficient in most languages within a week.

This list shows quite a diverse level of experience and can be explained by saying that up until I entered University in October of 1993 I was completely self taught and all research was self funded. I read extensively and as each new book opened up an interesting area, I read a book on each new topic. Then through some ingenuity and "garage invention", I managed to do comprehensive practical research in most of these areas.

When I was sixteen I started my own computer service, working from a makeshift studio with crude equipment at home. But as word spread about the money my systems saved businesses, I never had to advertise and the calls kept coming in. The advantage that I had over conventional business methods was that I had no conventions to work with, I was totally unsystemised and so could provide a better service for a quarter of the price of any competition's quotes and still produce a professional profit. I have many examples of how this unusual business technique works which may be discussed by phone/interview. I found that I could hone my communication skills by giving personal tutoring sessions in any computer application and answer every customer's questions in non-technical terms. All profits were channelled back into the business by way of more books, better equipment, and more research tests. I managed to keep all of this operating during my school studies for the Leaving Certificate and the extra A-levels I had taken, without letting the stress affect my studies therefore getting the 3rd level course I wanted.

My company's customers have therefore included Norich Union Insurances, Kilkenny Forestry Contractors, The Cork College of Art, S.I.P.T.U., Waterford Foods, Nolan Transport of New Ross and the Irish youth services information department.
