RE: Zündel/SIRC Hearings - Suspended Sine Die!

On June 10 and 11, 1996 Ernst Zündel appeared with his legal team in the Ottawa Federal Court and produced incontrovertible evidence that proved he needed the names and addresses of Jewish leaders so as to serve subpoenas and legal papers. In a contested document, "The Heritage Front Affair Report," the charge had been made that Zündel was compiling a "hit list" to cause harm to members of the Jewish community.

Before Judge Heald, Zündel's attorney stated and documented Zündel had every reason to believe Jewish community leaders were intimidating, harassing, besetting and stalking him, threatening repeatedly to have him criminally charged under the hate laws and were repeatedly calling him a "hate monger." Zündel wanted to counter legally and believed that he needed that list for the police so that he could lay harassment charges.

Zündel and his attorney team, Doug Christie and Barbara Kulaszka, appeared in Federal Court of Ottawa to present an "Apprehension of Bias" motion against SIRC, the "watchdog agency" overseeing CSIS. Based seemingly on the "hit list" charge, CSIS had claimed in a libelous report to the Minister of Immigration that Ernst Zündel ". . . presented a security threat to Canada." The information on which CSIS based its false accusation seems to have come from its own agent provocateur, Grant Bristow, who seems to have been the person claiming that Ernst Zündel was trying to establish some sort of "hit list" with intent to cause bodily harm to Jewish leaders in Canada.

After listening to the evidence, Judge Heald reserved judgment in Zündel's "Apprehension of Bias" motion against the Security Intelligence Review Committee. As a result and, ostensibly, because of illness of its chairman, CIRC decided to suspend the Zündel ". . . security threat to Canada" Hearings sine die - that is, indefinitely! No new date has been given for their resumption.

Distribution of Hate Literature is a criminal offense in Canada. Zündel was never charged and, thus, has never been convicted under this provision of the Criminal Code. Anyone calling him a "hate monger" is making a libelous statement.
