Diamond Music

The Diamond Music department is a formation of 2 people. There's me of course, and a friend who lives down the street. His name is Nanne Streekstra. He's only 15 years old. Together we create all kinds of musical things, with no particular style in mind. The only thing that matters to us is that the music feels and sounds right. If one of us has an idea that sounds really good, we'll use that idea to create a song, no matter what style it is. I guess you could say we are musical anarchists. In an environment of total musical freedom, we just try to make a great song.

Our playing is influenced by guitar gods such as Brian May, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Randy Rhoads, Eric Johnson, Slash, Eddie van Halen and Richie Sambora.

We chose the name Diamond, because a diamond is just like our music can be: hard rock, polished to create something beautiful.
Besides, diamonds are for ever, and diamonds are a girls best friend. If that also goes for us, what could possibly go wrong?

We are both guitarists, but Nanne usually backs up my guitar playing with a keyboard, to give the music a smoother edge. People tend to dub our style as 'Symphonic Rock' because of that, but I don't agree. I think our music generally has a too simple approach to be symphonic. Because of our use of drum machines, some people say it reminds them of 80's pop. I'm not sure of that either.
But, since I've put some of my songs on this site, you can decide for yourself what style of music it is.
Basically, there are only two kinds of music: bad and good. We just aim to create music of the latter sort.
