Antennas

Near Field antennas are specially selected communications antennas that will give the maximum pick up distances when using HandiCounters® or Interceptors®. Multi-band or scanner antennas will not perform as well as those shown below. The important criteria for antennas used in the near field is their limited frequency response. In order to pick up a transmitted signal from the maximum possible distance, it must be 10 to 15 dB stronger than any other signal, or the RF floor. Therefore, an effective near field antenna works by limiting the frequency range of the HandiCounter® or Interceptor® while increasing the pick up distance.

Model Photo Description Price
TA100S  4  Telescoping Whip Antenna. Frequency coverage from 100MHz to 600MHz (works outside this range with reduced efficiency). Low cost general purpose antenna for most applications (4.3"/20.3"). Supplied with the R10 Interceptor®. $12
RD27  1  Center loaded Rubber Duck type antenna. Will give increased pick up distance at frequencies below 100MHz. Use for 11 Meter, HF Amateur Bands, CB, and for Cordless Phones or Baby Monitors. Use with BLP70 Low Pass Filter for even better results. $29
RD800  2  Cellular (825-870 MHz) Rubber Duck type antenna can be used from cellular up through 1300 MHz. $35
RD150  3  VHF Rubber Duck type antenna with very good pick up characteristics for 140 through 180MHz. Also good for FM broadcast, amateur, and some wireless microphones. $19
RD440  5  UHF Stubby Rubber Duck antenna with good 440 through 480MHz characteristics $19

Filters

Model Picture Description Price
BLP-70  8  Mini-Circuits Low Pass Filter for improved performance at frequencies below 70MHz. When used with RD27 antenna, the pick up distance has been seen to double. Performance with TA100S telescoping whip antenna will give the same obtained with RD27 antenna alone. $40
BHP-800  9  Mini-Circuits High Pass Filter for frequencies above 800MHz. Use with RD800 antenna to improve reception distance on all counters except for the 3000A, which has a built-in High Pass Filter. $40
CF802  10  Cellular Band Pass Filter and Amplifier. 825 - 845MHz pass band with 10dB gain amplifier. Use with RD800 to increase typical reception distance to between 750 and 1000 feet. $129
N100  10  FM broadcast band notch filter. Reduces interference from FM stations. Useful for any scanner. $99

Probes and Cases

Model Picture Description Price
P30  7  Counter/Scope probe. General purpose probe with switchable 1X, 10X attenuator. This probe is useful for direct coupling to signal sources or circuit test points. Intended primarily for use with counters which have a 1 Meg Ohm input amplifier. $35
P101  6  Low-Pass probe attenuates RF noise from Audio frequencies. Has two stage low pass filter. $20
RA-BNC not shown Right angle BNC adapter permits use of any BNC antenna with 8030, 8040 or other bench type counters. $6

Software

Spectrum Frequency Database by PerCon (Supports the Scout®) $29.00

The Spectrum frequency database CDROM by PerCon, is an FCC database for Windows, Dos and Macintosh. The database includes records for police, fire, hospitals, businesses, state and local governments, airlines, utilities, taxis, phone companies, and much more. Fields include: Frequency, Callsign, Radio Service Code, Class of Station, DBA Name, Transmitter City, County, State, Transmitter Latitude and Longitude. The program is extremely easy to use and is suitable for entry-level as well as advanced scanner enthusiasts.

OptoLogtm Frequency Logging Software $29.00

OptoLogtm runs on IBM PC compatible personal computers under MS-DOS. When used with one of the Optoelectronics' frequency counters equipped with a serial port, OptoLogtm logs detected frequencies to an ASCII text file along with the date and time that the frequency was detected. This capability is very effective in determining the operating frequency and operating habits of nearby radio transmitters such as two-way radio, repeaters, paging transmitters, beacons, bugs, etc. Works with Models 3000A Plus, M1, and the 8040
