Many ACARS messages are transmitted often. The
aircraft will only stop transmitting a message when a confirmation from the
groundstation is received that the message is copied O.K.
This results in
vast numbers of messages, up to 10.000 in 24 Hrs! Files may reach sizes of up to
4 MB and even more... (Here in Deventer I have an average filesize of 3 Mb/24
hr) Files this large are not easy to analyze. Most people monitoring ACARS are
spotters. Spotters are most of the time only interested in registration marks
and flightnumbers. To extract this information from a *.LOG file produced by
Airmaster takes (much) time... Now it can be done automatically!
The
current version of DACARS is 2.3(c). It comes with a large database with
flightroutes, aircraft serial/type/owner, ICAO 4 letter identifiers and company
information. It supports Lowe Airmaster 2.0, 3.0 and 2000, AEA Acars, Khalid Rafiq's KRACARS and
WACARS. It keeps track of
all registrations and all flights you heard. It can create dBASE and ASCII
files, if you wish with aircraft types and flightroutes, you can view all unique
messages from one flightnumber etc. In the registration database more then
10.000 aircraft can be found.

some screenshots, or examine the manual! To give it a try yourself

shareware version.
