The following is the statement we recieved from Legions of the Underground
Date: Wed, 6 Jan 1999 05:43:58 +0000 (GMT) From: Digital Ebola <digi@address.removed.com> To: submit@hackernews.com Subject: Press Release To any media this may concern, Recent events has prompted Legions of the Underground to make a statement of its intentions and to make clarification over certain issues that were misinterpreted. First of all, we did declare war on China and Iraq, but it seemed to get out of hand with the media. We wished to send a message addressing human rights to both countries using our talents. Our intentions were never one of destructive intent, although we cannot be held responsible for other individules or groups that have taken it upon themselves to go beyond the law, we do support their political motivations. It seemed like we struck a nerve on the entire internet, from the authorities of all countries involved to the average citizen. We wished to send a message to the people of the world, that if the world was ever going to improve, certain entities would have to shape up and stop slaying their own people like cattle. We believe we have fulfilled our goal. Also, in address to the many articles that seemed to have not checked their sources, we never enlisted the help of any other hacking group, including spl0it. While we support their motivations, our affiliations with other research teams reside on a totally professional basis, instead of a partnership as which was published. We do however appreciate the support. Thank You, |
